About Sowing Seeds

Sowing Seeds Mission aims to glorify God through artistic expression and to minister to
both aspiring individuals learning to utilize their talents for His glory, as well as to those
who experience our productions.

1 Corinthians 10:31 tells us “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all
for the glory of God.”

And Colossians 3:17 tells us "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all
in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

We see that God used beauty, artistic skills and creative expression throughout the bible.

1. Psalms and Poetry: The book of Psalms contains numerous examples of poetic
expressions of worship. Psalm 150, for instance, calls for the use of various
musical instruments and dance in praise to God.

2. Creativity in Building the Tabernacle and Temple: Exodus 31:1-5 highlights
how God specifically chose Bezalel and filled him with artistic skills to create the
tabernacle and its furnishings. This demonstrates the importance of artistic
expression in the context of worship spaces.

3. Parables and Stories: Jesus frequently used parables and stories to convey
spiritual truths. These narratives often employed vivid imagery and symbolism,
showcasing the power of artistic expression in teaching and worship.

4. David's Dancing: In 2 Samuel 6:14-22, King David dances before the Lord with
all his might as the ark of the covenant is brought into Jerusalem. This illustrates
the use of physical expression and movement as a form of worship.

5. Music and Song: Throughout the Bible, music and song are integral parts of
worship. The Psalms, for example, contain numerous songs of praise and
lament. Additionally, in the New Testament, Paul encourages believers to sing
psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16).

We firmly believe that visualized expressions of a concept possesses a profound
capacity to touch the soul in ways that words alone often cannot. This belief led us to
adopt the motto 'Ministry through the Arts' alongside our name, 'Sowing Seeds,'
signifying our commitment to this endeavor.

Our Statement of Faith

We, the members of Sowing Seeds affirm our shared belief in the following truths, which form the foundation of our work as artists and believers in Jesus Christ. Sowing Seeds seeks to glorify God through our creativity, performances, and fellowship, and we commit ourselves to living out these truths in our art and in our relationships with others.

  1. The Authority of Scripture
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, given to us for instruction, guidance, and correction. It reveals God’s will and His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. As such, we hold the Bible as the ultimate authority in our lives, both on and off the stage, guiding our decisions and shaping our perspectives.

  2. The Nature of God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of the universe and all that is in it, and He is sovereign, loving, just, and merciful. We recognize God’s ultimate authority and power, and we honor His creation in all that we do, including in our theatrical expression.

  3. The Deity of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, who was sent to Earth to reveal God’s love and offer salvation to humanity. We believe that through His life, death on the cross, and resurrection, Jesus provided the only way for people to be reconciled with God and receive eternal life. As believers in Christ, we seek to reflect His character and truth in our art.

  4. The Role of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the active presence of the Holy Spirit, who empowers and equips believers for service, convicts the world of sin, and guides us into all truth. The Holy Spirit works through us to create, inspire, and encourage others, and we rely on His leading in our creative process and in our relationships with one another.

  5. The Human Dilemma and Redemption
We believe that all people are created in God’s image but have fallen into sin through disobedience, resulting in separation from God. However, we also believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, who offers forgiveness and reconciliation to all who trust in Him as Lord and Savior. Our work as artists reflects the beauty and brokenness of the human experience, while pointing to the hope of redemption through Christ.

  6. The Power of Art and Theatre
We believe that art, including theatre, is a gift from God and a powerful tool for communicating truth, inspiring change, and reflecting the beauty of God’s creation. Theatre allows us to explore the depths of the human experience, share the Gospel, and engage with both believers and non-believers in meaningful ways. We commit to using our talents and creativity to honor God, speak truth, and love others.

  7. The Community of Believers
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, and as part of that body, we are called to love, support, and encourage one another. Sowing Seeds strives to build a community where we can share our gifts, challenge one another in our faith, and grow in our understanding of God’s will. We are committed to fostering an environment of humility, respect, and love, where all voices are heard and valued.

  8. The Great Commission
We believe in the Great Commission, which calls all believers to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. Through our work, we aim to engage people with the message of the Gospel, offering a witness to the transforming power of Christ. We seek to use our performances and creative work to bring others into a deeper relationship with God and to encourage believers in their faith.

  9. The Return of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ will return one day to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal Kingdom. We live in anticipation of this promise, knowing that our work on Earth is part of God’s greater plan. Until His return, we are committed to faithfully serving Him in every aspect of our lives, including our artistic endeavors.

  10. Commitment to Integrity and Excellence
We believe that as followers of Christ, we are called to live with integrity and to pursue excellence in all that we do. We commit to honoring God with our talents, striving to reflect His goodness and truth in our work. Whether in rehearsals, performances, or behind the scenes, we aim to serve with excellence and humility, seeking to glorify God in every aspect of our artistic expression.

In all things, we seek to reflect the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ, and to use our gifts to further His Kingdom and make Him known to the world. We pray that through our work we might bring glory to God, inspire others, and be a witness of His transformative power in the world.

In Jesus' name, we dedicate ourselves to this mission. Amen.
